women in decision-making positions

CEC-WYS's activities to encourage women into decision-making positions are aimed to help women realise their ambitions and potential This is an important step towards encouraging equality and recognition of the importance of womens' contribution to the scientific community.

The Commission has set itself a target of having evaluation panels comprising, if possible, 40 % women in order to contribute to acheiving the goals of the Commission's equal opportunities policy.  In this section you can find information on the European Commission expert database and on our activities to encourage women from Central and Eastern Europe to register in the database from which registered members are invited to evaluate Framework Programme 6 projects.

Depending on the decision of the Commission, the evaluation of proposals by independent experts may take place either at their home or place of work (remote procedure) or on Commission premises. In general, remote assessment of the proposals is used. However, the Commission may opt for a two-stage submission and evaluation procedure. The evaluation criteria are common to all programmes of the 6th Research Framework Programme and are outlined in the Rules for Participation. Click title to read more...

The workshop was held on 23. March 2005 in Ljubljana. The objective of the workshop was to mobilise women to register in the European Commission's database of expert evaluators for Framework Programme 6. This enables the participants to gain experience with the European Commission and have a say in which research proposals get funded.
